OPM Meeting 3-27-14

HI Everyone,

The next Outdoor Painters of Minnesota meeting will be March 27th, 6:30pm at my place, The Northern Warehouse, 308 Prince St. #510 St. Paul.

Christine Tierney will be taking over as the new president, I'll continue to work with Christine with all the events on the schedule. It's been an honor to be the president this past year, I've gotten to meet many people and form closer relationships with many others. I would encourage any of you to consider being vice president this year and taking over for Christine in 2015, it's rewarding and fosters a sense of a community.

Shows Opening with OPM members

Andy Evansen will have 35 new paintings at the Wilcock Gallery, 218 Water Street in Excelsior

Opening is this Thursday, March 6 from 5-8:30 pm., and the show runs through the 31st.

This painting will be included, "Rockport Morning". 

Kathy Litwin and Judith Anderson will be a part of this event opening on Saturday.

Also wanted to mention this show at Crossings at Carnegie in Zumbrota which opened last Saturday.

Undoubtedly I'm leaving out shows and events that members are a part of, but these were on my radar and thought it warranted a heads up. Good luck to everyone, hope you sell them all.

Sorry about canceling the last meeting but it was pretty bad driving that evening.

Sorry to do this but I've gotten a lot of calls and emails today about the meeting and whether we should reschedule, I think we should. It's going to be an awful commute for those trying to head across the metro for a 6:30 meeting.

Time to Renew OPM Memebership for 2014!

Hi Painters,


It's January and it's time to renew your Outdoor Painters of Minnesota membership. There is a link to the PDF form on the right margin of this blog.


Benefits of Membership include 2-3 group shows a year, participation in the Wayzata Art Experience, Parley Lake Winery Annual Plein Air Event, one day workshops and monthly meet ups to paint together.


Outdoor Painters of Minnesota also is a sponsor of the Redwing Plein Air and the Minnesota River Plein Air.


There are exciting things being worked on to line up future shows at Art Center Venues and raise the profile of the Outdoor Painters of Minnesota.

FrameWorks Artwork Pickup

Frameworks pick up is Monday the 6th between 10 and 7 or Tuesday the 7th between 10 and 9. We ended up selling 7 pieces and we consider that a big success.  Thanks so much for showing with us again!  Pam

Scott Llyod Anderson - One Day Workshop

The FrameWorks Show details

Hi Everyone,
Here are the details for the OPM Fall/Winter Show at The FrameWorks Gallery. Each OPM member (that has paid the $35 annual due in 2013) can enter 2 works, they do have to be done plein air. There isn't a jurying process so what you drop off will be hung, however space is an issue so if you are entering a larger piece like 16x20 or bigger balance it with a 9x12 or 8x10 out of consideration to your fellow OPMers.

These are the dates and times I received from Pam today.

Dates of the show - November 16th through January 4th.  Opening Nov 16th from 7 to 10 pm.
Drop off dates - Tuesday Nov 12th from 10 am to 9 pm or Wednesday Nov 13th from 10 am to 7 pm.
Inventory - Please bring a written inventory that includes title, medium and price.  Make sure it also includes all of your contact information.
Artists Statement - If you want one displayed with your work, please e-mail it to frameworksmn@outlook.com no later than 11/12/13.
Identification - Mark the back of each piece of work with your name and it's title!

Fall Outdoor Painters of Minnesota show at The FrameWorks

 

I spoke with Pam at The FrameWorks and got the firm dates for the Fall OPM show.

November 16th through January 4th with an opening on Saturday November 16 from 7-10 pm.

 

This show is for OPM members who dues have been paid for 2013.

 

Each member can enter 2 pieces in the show, plein air work only, which we have defined as started and at least 80 percent completed in the field.

 

Details on drop off dates will be coming, just wanted to give everyone the heads up.

Parley Lake Winery Event August 10th

Deb Zeller has graciously invited the OPM to paint at their beautiful winery this Saturday August 10th. This is the third year for this event and it's a lot of fun, plus we get a ticket for a glass of wine.

Remember not to park in the winery parking lot so customers have access.

Arboretum Show Painting Pick Up

Hey OPM,

Got this from Keith Wilcock, info on the art pick up and nice comments on OPM members.

We plan to take down the OPM show at the Arboretum on Thursday, August 1st.  The unsold paintings will be available for pick up here at the gallery on August 2nd. We have limited storage space and encourage members to pick up their paintings at their earliest convenience.

We had some good feedback from Arboretum members and staff. At last count we had sold six paintings. In this economy, we think that is an OK result. Traffic at the Arboretum has been good this summer so the paintings were seen by several thousand visitors.

We will submit a bill for sold paintings to the Arboretum after the show comes down.  They usually pay 30 days after they get the bill, and as soon as we receive the check we will pay the artists. Thanks in advance for your patience.

We enjoyed meeting and working with OPM members. They were friendly, responsive and cooperative. We were happy to met some artists we had not known about before.
